Hee Bong is Mija’s grandfather. He is very much a foil to Mija’s character in the sense that his outlook on life is informed by his old age and knowledge of how the world works. For instance, he knows that the fate of Okja is to be killed and eaten, and though he is heartbroken by this, he knows that it is true. He cares about Mija a lot though, and wants the best for her (or at least, what he sees as the best for her).
