Johnny Wilcox begins as a world wide phenomenon in 2007, playing as a sort of Steve Irwin character in the Okja universe. He is "the face of the Mirando Corporation". But, ten years later, in 2017, he is a shell of his former self. His decreasing popularity, ratings, and the horrors of the Mirando research facility has driven him to alcoholism. When he tries to defy Lucy Mirando in a meeting, he gets shot down by her, putting the nail to his career’s coffin.
